Ductwork, made in our shop

One sheet of steel. One duct that fits.

  1. A flat sheet

Galvanized steel — zinc-coated so it won't rust — cut to the size of your run.

  2. Locking edges

One edge is formed into a pocket, the other gets a lip that locks into it. No screws, no glue.

  3. Stiffened

A light X-crease keeps the wide sides from drumming, and the ends fold back so sections clip together.

  4. Folded on the brake

Three precise 90° bends, one at a time, turn the flat sheet into a box.

  5. Locked shut

The seam is hammered shut along the corner — a tight, four‑layer lock.

Why sizing matters here

Two climates.Thirty minutes apart.

Alamogordo's average July high is 93°F. Thirty minutes up US 82, Cloudcroft averages 19°F on a January night and gets about sixty-seven inches of snow a year. A system sized for one is wrong for the other. And half the houses in Alamogordo were built before 1980, most with the ductwork they started with.

ENERGY STAR estimates that a typical duct system loses 20 to 30 percent of the air it moves. That's the part most people never see, and the part we build ourselves.

Custom fabrication

If it's metal,we can make it

Fabrication is a big part of this business, and much of it isn't for our own jobs. Roofers order their trim and flashing from us. Builders, other trades and businesses bring drawings. Homeowners bring the worn-out original. We cut it, bend it and seam it here in Alamogordo, one piece or a whole order.

How it works

One call. One crew.One shop.

  1. Call the shop

Tell us what's going on. We'll talk it through, tell you what it sounds like, and set a time to come out.

  2. We look before we quote

We see the job in person first, so the estimate covers all of it: equipment, ductwork and any sheet metal the job needs.

  3. One shop does the work

The duct is made in our shop to fit your building, and the same crew installs it. No second contractor to wait on.

The Tularosa Basinand the Sacramentos

The shop is in Alamogordo. From there we work in La Luz, Holloman AFB, Tularosa, Cloudcroft, Mayhill and Ruidoso.

In the basin it's mostly air conditioning and rooftop units. In the mountains it's heating that has to keep up in January.

2003

Started in a garage

Grown on the work. Not the advertising.

Javier Macias started the business in 2003 in his garage, with one other person, doing what the two of them could do. He never advertised and never took on more than he could do well. Good work brought the next job, and that job brought the one after it. Twenty-three years later there's a sheet metal shop, a crew, a crane, and customers who keep calling back.

Now the next generation is taking it on, with the same rule the first one had: do it right, and the customers will keep you going.

Questions

Questions wehear a lot

What areas do you serve?+

We're based in Alamogordo and work in Holloman AFB, La Luz, Tularosa, Cloudcroft, Mayhill and Ruidoso. If you're near any of them, call and ask.

Do you work on homes and businesses?+

Yes. We install and repair heating and air conditioning for houses and commercial buildings, including packaged rooftop units, which we set with our own crane. The shop also makes custom metal work for businesses and other contractors.

Do you make your own ductwork?+

Yes. We build rectangular and round duct, plenums, transitions and fittings in our own sheet metal shop in Alamogordo, so the system and the duct behind it come from the same people.

Do you do custom fabrication for other people?+

Yes, and it's a big part of what we do. Contractors, businesses and homeowners bring us a drawing, a measurement or the worn-out original, and we make it: flashing, trim, caps, covers, enclosures and one-off parts. One piece or a whole order. There are photos of some of it in our gallery.

Do you install roofs?+

No. We don't install roofing, but we make custom roof trim and flashing (drip edge, ridge cap, valley and wall flashing) for roofers, builders and homeowners.
